Creating a new class of antiviral drugs
To create this type of medicine, you must use the features of the penetration of the virus into the cell.
The medicine has a form of a synthetic cell (the phospholipid sphere). On the surface of the sphere we set receptors (proteins, glycoproteins) that are specific for a given virus (several types of viruses).
The virus attaches to this receptor and penetrates (introduces it’s genes) into the sphere.
Inside the sphere there are enzymes that can break down the DNA or RNA of a virus into individual nucleotides.
These drugs can be produced in the form of aerosols (for the treatment of respiratory viral infections) and in the form of injections (for the treatment of viral infections localized in blood cells, including some oncoviruses and HIV).
In the case of aerosol use, after the drug destroys the required number of viruses, synthetic cells with destroyed viral particles will be naturally removed from the body along with expectoration.
In the case of injections, it is necessary to provide and develop a process for removing the drug from the body. Perhaps this will be the absorption of an artificial cell by a macrophage, the destruction and processing of an artificial cell in the liver, or the self-destruction of an artificial cell directly in the vessels, after complete disintegration of the virus.
