Functionally immature gastrointestinal
Every newborn child is born with an immature
digestive system. The main body of the enzyme - the first months of the pancreas
is unable to process vegetables, fruits, juices, cereals and even dairy
products. Therefore, these foods (complementary foods) doctors do not recommend
the diet to introduce the baby to 4 - 5 months, when most children enzymes
"mature". Yes, and even a product as breast milk or an adapted milk formula -
breast-milk substitutes, not all children may be the normal way. The reason -
the same: the immaturity of the enzymes. Therefore, children are not uncommon in
the presence of fecal lumps of curds of milk (which is a variant of a normal
chair at an early age), cramps (normally there are almost every child up to 3 -
3.5 months).
A critical role in ensuring the normal operation of the intestine play a
beneficial bacteria of the intestinal flora - they neutralize toxins and
allergens, stimulate the intestines and produce up to 80% of the enzyme lactase
- the one that digests the milk sugar lactose - a key component of breast milk
and infant formula. So, the child is born with sterile intestines, ie, no
bacteria there. Bacteria start to colonize the intestine during the birth, the
first 2 months of the intestinal microflora changes several times a day, and
then a little over 1 year in the process of stabilization of the intestinal
microflora. All this time the child is predisposed to the development of
dysbacteriosis, against which can develop allergies, violations of the chair,
secondary lactase deficiency.
By the way, secondary lactase deficiency, accompanied by abdominal pain, frothy
liquid stool, abdominal distention, - one of the most common gastrointestinal
problems faced by young parents. The causes are bacteria overgrowth and
enzymatic immaturity. Usually the problem is solved for 4 - 5 months, but may be
more prolonged duration. In secondary lactase deficiency should not deprive the
baby of breast milk and transfer to lactose mixture - it only delay the
development of its own enzymes.
Inextricably linked with intestinal immune system. You can even say that the
intestines - the largest organ of the immune system. Newborn baby in utero
receives from the mother's immune memory, which helps at first to cope with
harmful microbes. Critical role in the further development of the immune system
plays a mother's milk. Immune system has to learn, and requires a lot of time to
staphylococci and fungi have ceased to be an impossible task for her. But in the
first few months until immunity has not been formed, the children often and
thrush (caused by fungi Candida) and pustular pimples, and green feces (and that
both can cause negative staphylococci). Any dysbiosis occurs against a
background of weakened or immaturity of the local immunity of intestines.
Condition of the skin depends on the work of the intestine. No wonder there is a
popular expression: "skin - mirror intestine. Up to 90% of what appears on the
skin of the baby has an intestinal origin (diathesis - one of the manifestations
of dysbacteriosis). It should be further considered that the skin in infants - a
very gentle, sensitive, prone to inflammation.
The immaturity of the liver and biliary tract manifest state of physiological
neonatal jaundice. More precisely, the immaturity of the liver - one of the
reasons for the jaundice (there are other reasons not related to
gastroenterology). It is permissible pedicterus first 2 weeks after birth. If
the jaundice lasts longer - a protracted jaundice, requiring treatment.
Summarizing, we can say that any modern child is born are not well adapted to
the environment. There is an explanation. The fact that a man, like any living
creature can be changed to adapt to changing environmental conditions - this is
the process of adaptation. For a long time, environmental change, and change man
ran parallel courses, so a person has adapted without any problems. But in the
last 50 - 100 years there have been so rapid and significant changes in the
environment that changes people simply do not have time for these processes.
Violations of adaptation - the most common modern problem. And the children are
much more likely than adults exposed to diseases of adaptation.
